Apartment and Villa Holiday Rentals in Salobrena Costa Tropical and Granada, Spain

Salobrena - Andalucia's best kept secret !

Superb 1st floor 2 bed apartment in the quaint & picturesque town of Salobrena, right by the Mediterranean sea on the Costa Tropical

Salobrena is a pretty Moorish town perched on a rocky outcrop - surrounded by green fields of sugar cane and tropical fruits it is nestled in between the Mediterranean and the mountains. Its unique location means for many months of the year you can ski in the Sierra Nevada then swim in the Med on the same day ! Or perhaps just tip your toes in the pool and admire the panoramic views of the sea and surrounding countryside.

Unspoilt by commercial tourism yet only 1 hour east of Malaga and 45 minutes from the beautiful renaissance city of Granada, Salobrena has a unique micro climate, making it a great all year round holiday destination with over 300 days of sunshine a year.

It is ideal for those seeking a peaceful, relaxing holiday away from the crowds. Rich in history and tradition there are many 'fiestas' held throughout the year.

Meander your way up through the myriad of narrow streets and whitewashed houses to the Arab castle & old church perched at the top, stopping on the way to sample the little dishes of tapas served with your drink ! There are many bars and good restaurants scattered throughout the town. The beach stretches for miles & has several 'chiringuitos' (beach bars) where you can eat till the early hours by candlelight, or do like the locals and have yourself a barbecue on the sand.....

Suspiro del Moro - where legend ended & a new life began

Beautiful 4 bed villa in an exclusive residential area surrounded by countryside, yet only 5 minutes from the city of Granada

In addition to our apartment on the coast we also have a beautiful villa, with large private pool, just 30 minutes inland in the special region of Suspiro del Moro (meaning 'pass of the Moor's sigh'). History tells us it was in this very place Boabdil, the last King of Granada, looked back for one last time at the city he had lost. The sight of Granada moved him to tears but his Mother, accompanying him into exile, reprimanded him "weep like a woman son, for that which you could not defend as a man".

The villa has superb views to the Sierra Nevada mountains and is surrounded by miles of undulating countryside and olive groves, yet is only 5 minutes drive from Granada city. To the rear of the villa lies the ancient road that was for centuries the main route to the Mediterranean coast, namely Salobrena and Almunecar. These beautiful coastal enclaves were the gateway to Andalucian life, bringing ashore precious commodities from Europe and Africa that gave this region such a strong Moorish influence. Nowadays you can be on the beaches of the 'Costa Tropical' in around 30 minutes from here(or follow the old road stopping off en-route at one of the tiny villages clinging to the mountainside - the most dramatic and scenic road you'll ever drive !)

The National Park of Dilar is also just a short drive away and 20 minutes by car finds you at the entrance to the mountain villages of the Alpujarras (made famous by the book 'Driving over Lemons').

The villa is situated on an exclusive and quiet private residential area and Granada airport is a very easy 20 minute drive away. The brand new Santa Clara golf course sits just beyond the villa across the other side of the main A44 road to Granada/Motril - opened in 2007 it is destined to become one of Spains most prestigious & challenging courses.

The villa really is perfectly situated for a cultural city, shopping, golfing, beach and skiing holiday. You really can do it all from here !
