Shopping in Salobrena

Listen out for the baker who delivers fresh bread every morning !

The 'Corner Shop'

On the corner of our street is a little grocers shop which sells everything from beer, wine and milk to local fresh fruit & vegetables, bread, cakes and frozen food and toiletries. Open 6 days and Sunday mornings, closing for siesta from around 2 till 5 p.m.

Supermarkets

In the new town there are several good supermarkets with parking - SuperSol which has a great fresh bakery counter (try their homemade 'Magdalenas' topped with crunchy sugar !) and Dia (like Aldi). There is also a Lidl opposite the BP petrol station and a Mercadona on your right just as you enter Salobrena.

Markets

There is a covered market place in Salobrena which is open daily (except Mondays) selling the fresh 'catches of the day' along with meats and fresh fruit and vegetables. On Tuesday and Friday mornings there is also an open air market selling fresh produce, clothes, shoes and household items.

There are also many shops throughout the town selling a wide variety of goods.

Hypermarket

Approximately 3 kilometres out of town on the main N340 road there is the hypermarket 'Al Campo' which sells everything from food and clothes to furniture and electrical goods. They have a good little bar/cafe serving beers, snacks and light meals. Open 7 days usually till 10 p.m. (closes earlier on Sundays).

In addition there are a couple of large shopping malls within an hours drive and of course some great shops can be found in Granada, 45 minutes away (dont miss the Moroccan quarter full of narrow little streets selling rugs, lanterns and mint tea !)

Banks

There are several banks in Salobrena, open from 8.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can exchange money in them and there are also cashpoints outside most of them.

Post Office

The Post Office (Correos) is located near the Ayuntamiento, in the area behind the La Bodega restaurant, as you enter Salobrena. Open from 8.30 a.m. till 2 p.m.and Saturday mornings. You can also buy stamps in the tobacconists (Estanco)
There is a postbox (yellow)at the bottom of the hill on the way up to the apartment, outside Cafe Bar Miramar.

Petrol

There is a Campsa petrol station next to SuperSol supermarket in the new part of town. There are also two Cepsa petrol stations a little way along the main Granada road and a BP on the industrial estate opposite the slip road you take to enter Salobrena (under the bridge and head back in the direction of Malaga).
